Sunday is my favourite day of the week. You’ve just got over the tiredness from the week before and feel rejuvenated for what’s ahead! The weather started off with the classic grey skies but in typical London fashion, the sun came out unexpectedly and we actually had a hot summer afternoon. On this lovely Sunday, I headed to London Bridge to meet my friend for lunch at the Shard. It’s taken me a good while but I can now honestly say, I love it – the views of London are stunning and it’s a great place for a special occasion. There is an observation deck but I would recommend visiting one of the restaurants instead as you get the benefit of the view as well as enjoying some good food and/or drinks.
Having previously been to Aqua Shard for afternoon tea, I was really looking forward to trying out a new restaurant. We decided on Hutong – having heard so many good things, I was really excited that I finally got a reservation.
The ambience at Hutong is great, with wooden carvings and red lanterns everywhere. The view from the 32nd floor is also on point. In terms of food, surprisingly, I was a little let down! Don’t get me wrong, it was good but sadly didn’t fully live up to my expectations. I’d say a solid 6.5/10, mainly because the food was a little salty and the garlic was too strong for my liking.
We tried the set lunch menu which included 4 courses. It started with soup, then a selection of dim sum followed by some pak choi, egg fried rice and 2 main courses.
Have you ever been to Hutong? What did you think? Leave me a comment below!
