This weekend, we headed to the Magical Lantern Festival in Chiswick. It was also Chinese New Year so perfect timing! For those of your wondering, the Magical Lantern Festival showcases a collection of illuminated, colourful outdoor lanterns in literally all shapes and sizes. This year’s theme is: ‘Explore The Silk Road’, with lanterns representing the significance of the route of trade from Europe to Ancient China.
Open until 26 February, this festival is a great option for a family trip and is something that will appeal to people of all ages. I was particularly impressed by the sheer scale of some of the lanterns – the Chinese Palace was stunning! This is a different but fun way to spend an evening (unless it’s raining of course!).
The only criticism I had was the ticket price which I thought was a little steep, particularly on the weekend (£18 in advance and £20 on the day). But, if you keep your eyes peeled, there are some discounts available – use the code ‘Jan20‘ for a 20% discount (though likely this code will not be available once January ends so get there quick!). You can also find offers on Timeout’s website or on Groupon. Weekdays are slightly cheaper so a good time to visit if you can!
Book and enjoy! x
