Afternoon tea is such a treat and always a great option if you’re thinking of doing something special for someone. I’ve tried a fair few Afternoon tea’s in London, where the options are absolutely endless. The food has to of course be good but so does the ambience – this is why I was really excited to finally try the Uber stylish Dean Street Townhouse’s afternoon tea a couple of months ago.Part of the Soho House brand, Dean Street Townhouse is situated in the heart of Soho, minutes away from bustling Oxford Street. An elegant, boutique hotel, this is the perfect place to rest your feet after a tiring shopping expedition.Afternoon tea is served in the hotel’s main restaurant which has two different themed rooms. The one we were in had a luxurious vibe with its white linen tablecloths, fabulous wallpaper and large (very low!) velvet armchairs and cushions. I loved the dimly lit rooms and the atmosphere is general.
In terms of the afternoon tea itself, it was pretty good for the price of £21 (menu). You get one pot of tea from a decent selection. The sandwiches include cucumber and cheese, smoked salmon and horseradish and burford brown eggs and mayonnaise. This is followed by fruit scones (with raisins), homemade preserve and clotted cream. The scones were probably my favourite part of the tea.
You also get a selection of small cakes which were good though a little too sweet for me personally. Overall, I think this is a great affordable afternoon tea option so would definitely recommend!
